Jeonju (Korean: 전주; Korean pronunciation: [t͡ɕʌɲ. d͡ʑu], lit.
Jeonju (Korean: 전주; Korean pronunciation: [t͡ɕʌɲ.d͡ʑu], lit. 'Perfect region') is the capital and largest city of the state of Jeonbuk, South Korea. It is both urban and rural due to the closeness of Wanju County which almost entirely surrounds Jeonju (Wanju County has many residents who work in Jeonju). It is an important tourist center famous for South Korean cuisine, historic buildings, sports activities, and innovative festivals. In May 2012, Jeonju was chosen as a Creative City for Gastronomy as part of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network.

The Jeondong Cathedral (Korean: 전동성당) also known as the Old Cathedral of Jeondong and now as the Jeondong Church of Francis Xavier is an important Catholic church in Jeonju, South Korea. The cathedral building, of Roman-Byzantine style, was built between 1908 and 1914 by Victor Louis Poisnel (1855–1925).

The Jeonju Hyanggyo (Korean: 전주향교; Hanja: 全州鄕校) is a hyanggyo (school) originally established at the Gyeonggijeon Shrine site in Jeonju, Korea, sometime early in the 15th century, during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). Gyeonggijeon Shrine was erected in 1410, so construction of the Jeonju Hyanggyo had to follow sometime later.
