Hidden gems in Sarajevo

The Yellow Fortress (Žuta tabija) is an Ottoman bastion on Sarajevo’s eastern hillside, best known today as the city’s favorite sunset viewpoint over the valley.

The Sarajevo Tunnel (Bosnian: Sarajevski Tunel) also known as the Tunnel of Salvation (Bosnian: Tunel spasa), the Tunnel of Hope, or the Tunnel of Life, was a tunnel constructed between March and June 1993 during the Siege of Sarajevo in the midst of the Bosnian War. It was built by the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) in order to link the city of Sarajevo, which was entirely cut off by the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS), with ARBiH-held territory on the other side of the Sarajevo Airport, an area controlled by the United Nations.

The Sacred Heart Cathedral (Serbo-Croatian: Katedrala Srca Isusova/Катедрала Срца Исусова) is a Catholic church in Sarajevo; commonly referred as the Sarajevo Cathedral (Sarajevska katedrala/Сарајевска катедрала), it is the largest cathedral in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, currently Tomo Vukšić, and center of Catholic worship in the city.

The Avaz Twist Tower is a 40-story, 172 m (564 ft) tall skyscraper in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the headquarters for Dnevni avaz, a Bosnian newspaper company.

The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnian and Croatian: Zemaljski muzej Bosne i Hercegovine) is located in central Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was established in 1888, having originally been conceived around 1850 and expanded in 1913 by the Czech architect Karel Pařík adding four symmetric pavilions that contain the departments of archaeology, ethnology, natural history, and a library.
